As of 2025, approximately 7.2 million people in the UK are living with asthma, equating to about 8 in every 100 individuals. This includes around 1.1 million children (about 1 in 11) and 4.3 million adults (approximately 1 in 12).
Asthma remains a serious health concern in the UK, with an average of four people dying every day from asthma attacks.
It’s estimated that 75% of hospital admissions for asthma are avoidable and as many as 90% of asthma-related deaths could be prevented. These figures highlight the importance of proper asthma management and awareness. If you are caring for someone with asthma or have the condition yourself, receiving the right training and support is essential to reduce the risk of severe attacks and ensure better long-term health outcomes.
