Anaphylaxis Training Course Description

Our Anaphylaxis Awareness Level 2 (VTQ) course is designed for anyone who needs to understand, recognise and respond to an anaphylactic emergency. This includes workplace first aiders, school and childcare staff, sports coaches, care workers, community groups, hospitality staff and anyone who may need to support a person at risk of a severe allergic reaction.

Anaphylaxis is a serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that can develop quickly and requires prompt action. This course gives learners the knowledge and confidence to recognise the warning signs, provide immediate care, activate the emergency medical services and support the casualty until professional help arrives.

The course covers common causes of anaphylaxis, how allergic reactions can progress, the signs and symptoms to look for, and the importance of acting quickly. Learners are also taught how to use adrenaline auto-injectors, including commonly used devices such as EpiPen® and Jext®, along with guidance on safe storage, checking expiry dates and what to do after an auto-injector has been used.

Training also includes practical first aid considerations, casualty positioning, giving a second dose where appropriate, recognising a biphasic reaction, recording and reporting the incident, and reducing the risk of future allergic emergencies. The course supports current UK best practice, including guidance that adrenaline should be given without delay where anaphylaxis is suspected and that 999 should be called immediately.

At ProTrainings, our anaphylaxis training is delivered through high-quality video-based learning, clear demonstrations and structured course content developed to help learners understand not just what to do, but why it matters. We offer both online and 100% classroom-based options, making the course suitable for individuals, employers, schools, care providers and organisations needing consistent staff training.

On successful completion of the course, learners receive a ProTrainings certificate. The classroom certificate is valid for three years, and renewal is completed by retaking the course. Anaphylaxis training can also be integrated into selected ProTrainings first aid courses and, where appropriate, may be dually certified.

We also offer a dedicated Healthcare Anaphylaxis Level 2 (VTQ) course for healthcare professionals who require training tailored to their clinical duties and working environment and a course in Allergy Awareness in Schools to meet the requirements of Benedict's Law.

All ProTrainings first aid courses are kept up to date and are designed to meet current UK guidance, including relevant Resuscitation Council UK guidance for anaphylaxis and emergency first aid practice.
