Develop insight into mental health issues and learn how to support someone experiencing them.

CPD Certified Training Approved by Skills for Care

This introductory qualification equips you with a clear understanding of what mental health and mental ill-health mean, the factors that influence them, and the personal and social impact of common conditions. Over 24 guided learning hours you will explore recognised disorders, their causes and prevalence; examine how stigma, media portrayals and cultural perspectives shape attitudes; learn the rights of people experiencing mental ill-health and the range of professional, community and self-help resources available; and practise simple, appropriate ways to support yourself or sign-post others to help. Assessment is by short written or oral tasks set by the centre, and you are expected to engage in class discussion, complete workbook activities and demonstrate that you can identify symptoms, dispel myths and outline practical next steps for someone in need.

The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.

This course gives learners the opportunity to gain a formally recognised regulated qualification. If you require funding, a regulated qualification is often required. Phone us and we can advise if needed. If you choose our course leading to a regulated qualification, there are additional assessment criteria to be undertaken with an instructor and a small extra certification charge.
